OpenDAQ looks like nice DAQ hardware that runs open source software. Their firmware and host software libraries can be found on the OpenDAQ Github page. It looks like everything is LGPL except for the LabView virtual instrument repository, which does not specify a license.
The hardware is based on the Atmel ATmega644P and can be programmed using a modified version of the Arduino IDE downloadable on their support page.
We are going to order one for the lab and try it out. I can see how this would be a perfect companion to a T400 temperature datalogger
